Top FVS TRI triathlete Gavin May represented GB in the 35-39 age group at the Long Distance World Championships in Denmark.

Gavin was the 1st GB athlete in his age group and also 2nd home for GB overall!

He was overall 12th in the world in his age group and recorded the 6th fastest bike and run splits. The sea swim had to be reduced from 4k to 3k due to the cold conditions and medical staff were on hand to treat competitors with jelly fish stings, a common occurrence in the local area!

Gavin had previously represented GB in Ibiza and also qualified for and completed Ironman Hawaii in 2004. He returned to compete earlier in this year at Ironman France after an enforced layoff due to illness after Hawaii and so his result is even more remarkable given the relatively poor preparation.

Gavin will now work on his swim through the winter and aims to launch an attack on the medal positions for next year.

Gav pushes hard on a tough course
