Pete Bardell was 55th in 38:59, none the worse for his London Marathon run in full fire-fighter gear. Simon Shaw returned to racing after a long injury layoff to finish 195th in 44:53 with an identical time to new member Shawn Reader who was given 196th

Four members from FVS Tri paired up for the Team MK Astwood Open 2 Up Cycle Time Trial  on an undulating 20 mile 2 lap loop around Astwood and North Crawley just outside Cranfield. Jon Gillham was 5th in the Tuesday Hitchin Nomads 10mile TT  in 26m 21s before racing on Sunday in the Lea Valley 25 mile Cycle TT and finishing first for the club in 1:04:19. Rob Wilson was second for the club in 1:06:08 followed by Mark Grayson 1:09:01, Tim Somers 1:16:31, and Darren Greene 1:20:30 (2:36 late start penalty). The out and back course was deceptively fast on the outward leg with a favourable gradient and tailwind. The homeward leg was more sobering as the gradient and wind conditions were reversed!

Chris Suckling and Jeff Ryan completed the Exmoor Coastal Marathon in 6 :12 and 6:25 respectively for the 28.3 miles and 9000ft of ascent over steep cliff paths, open moorland and muddy tracks.

On the more traditional London Marathon route Gavin May was first home for FVS TRI in 2:57:30. Marathon first timer Greg Evans recorded an excellent 3:34:25 and Steve Mussett 4:46:09. Herts Fire fighter Pete Bardell completed the course in full fire gear in 5:58:56
