Milton Keynes Duathlon Race 2

3.5km run/15km bike/3.5km run.

Jackie Perry Duathlon Series Leader

Local Hitchin based triathlon club FVS TRI was out in force again at the Milton Keynes Duathlon with twelve members racing in the 2nd of the 3 race series.

Kevin Holt and Jackie Perry were again 1st home for the Club with Jackie taking 2nd female overall to establish herself as overall leader of the series with only 1 race remaining.

All those that had competed in the 1st race of the Series were rewarded with faster times (improvements in brackets) with Mike Blanden and Lesley Dutton both showing improvements of nearly 3 minutes.

The race comprised of a flat fast run around the lake and then 10 laps of the service road around the Milton Keynes Bowl before repeating the same run loop. The event was run as 2 races with the senior men off first and the veteran men joining the ladies 30 mins later. This was for safety reasons as the bike course was slippery due to the recent weather conditions.

Top FVS TRI cyclist Mickey Summers completed in his first multi sport event and was rewarded with the fastest Club bike leg and also a creditable 18th position in the senior race. Flic Bertram and Pete Timmins were also racing in their first duathlon and I think Flic enjoyed it a bit more than Pete who was heard to say “never again!”
