Tale of 2 Steves!

The Ribble Valley 10k

FVS TRI’s Steve Harrison travelled North over the holiday period and earned a super 10k PB with a 32:18 at the Ribble Valley 10k.  In a high quality field of 800 runners, Steve’s time was only good enough for 24th place, although he did just beat first female GB International Helen Clitheroe by 2 seconds!

Bedford 5k

Steve James was 1st vet and 7th overall in a time of 17:41 and marked his debut performance in FVS TRI colours having recently transferred over from Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers.

Mulligatawny Mud Challenge

FVS TRI was top local Club in the invitation Mulligatawny Mud Challenge hosted for the 2nd year by North Herts Road Runners. Eight Clubs were invited to enter 15 runners with the

First  3 men and 3 women scoring for the respective teams.

FVS TRI men were 3rd overall and led home by Simon Hall, closely followed by Gavin May with James Brooks producing a storming run to clinch the 3rd scoring spot.

FVS TRI ladies finished 2nd overall with Sam Tophill leading in Lesley Dutton and Jackie Perry

This very friendly but still competitive event was held over a tough course featuring the best hills the local area could offer, and a lot of mud! NHRR went to a lot of trouble to make the event fun with amusing signs to warn the approaching runners of  “ The Swamp@ and “Cardiac Hill”  and every finisher  received a well earned  can of Mulligatawny Soup.

Buntingford 10

450 runners braved the cold conditions after Christmas to run the Buntingford 10 mile road race. Gavin May was first home for FVS TRI with an excellent 12th overall in just under the hour. In the ladies race Lesley Dutton won 2nd Vet 45 to bring home another cup for the Club.

Pirton Off Road 5K

Mark Simpson had another good run to finish 3rd overall in the Pirton Off Road 5k. With a free bottle of beer provided by the sponsors for each finisher, this will probably prove to be popular in 2006.
