The penultimate Sunday Cross Country League Fixture took to the hills of Royston on a course which proved testing to FVS TRI teams depleted by seasonal illness. Steve Harrison was first home for the men in 2nd, leading the A team to 4th on the day, good enough to maintain 2nd in the overall A team competition. Brian White was 2nd for FVS TRI in 25th with James Grierson 3rd in 31st. Pete Eames completed his 3rd cross country race in 7 days and finished strongly to score for the A team as 7th scorer. Excellent participation from FVS TRI men has ensured 2nd place in the B Team competition in every race although a lack of older athletes means a 6th overall in the veteran competition. Antonia Field returned from illness to lead the women home with 6th position. A strong finish from improving Gemma Sargent(10th) and good team performances from veteran athlete Lesley Dutton (13th) Chris Yuill (14th) and Penny Wylie (25th) ensured a comfortable 2nd for the A Team and 2nd for the Veterans Team. The women have finished 2nd in both competitions in every fixture this year ensuring a consolidated 2nd overall behind leading local specialist run club, Garden City Runners. In the combined competition for top club, FVS TRI still maintain their second position behind Garden City Runners and hope to hold on at the last fixture next month at Watford.
