Gold Medals for Anna and Pete!

Sunday 31st July

St Albans Sprint Triathlon

400m pool swim/20k bike/5k run

Pete Eames and Anna Priestley won honours at the St Albans Sprint Triathlon taking gold medals in the 45-49 and 50-54 age groups.

Pete improved his 2004 time by over 2 ½ minutes to win his age group and now leads the BTA Eastern Region Sprint Series in his age group with just one race remaining.

Anna, who also competes for North Herts Road Runners, only took up triathlon this year and with great success! This is her 3rd age group win and her success in triathlon is also translating into excellent running times with a 22:45 at The Bedford 5K for NHRR last Wednesday, Anna’s best time since returning to competition from injury.

SUPER STEVE SHINES AT MILTON KEYNES!

Milton Keynes Olympic Triathlon

1500m lake swim/40k bike/10k run

An incredible 22 members of FVS TRI competed at the Milton Keynes Olympic Triathlon

Steve Harrison had an amazing race competing at the front of the field and being rewarded with a 2nd in age group and 5th overall from nearly 1000 triathletes!

His time of 1:57:46 was only 7 mins slower than the winning time of professional triathlete Richard Allen and was an improvement of over 8 mins on last year. Also in PB form were Darren (Woody) Woodhall, Jeremy Lintott and Rob Wilson (10 mins).

There were age group medals for Sam Tophill (3rd 35/39), and also Lesley Dutton (2nd 45/49) and Flic Bertram (3rd 20/24) both competing in their first Olympic event. Other debutants were Paula Adams, Paul Dutton, Dawn Green and Dave Coard.

FVS TRI were one of the biggest Clubs represented and definitely had the best and notably most vocal support with family, friends and members, many of whom had cycled to the event, all in full flow!
