FVS TRI’s Steve Harrison returned to competition with a business as usual 2nd place overall and 35/39 age group win at the Milton Keynes Olympic Triathlon over the 1500m lake swim/40k bike and 10k run. Having sustained a shoulder injury in the Corus Elite Sprint Event in Reading in May when brought down on the bike, Steve was expecting to potentially  sit out the remainder of the season.  His time of 1:53:08 was only 2 minutes behind his previous best when at full fitness and this has encouraged Steve to contest the National Championships at Wakefield on Sunday, an event he won in 2006.  Top veteran Ian Mackerness was 2nd home for the club in 2:04:24 and Simon Patenall 3rd in 2:14:54 just 3 seconds ahead of Kerri Renshaw who was 2nd in the competitive 30/34 age group. Super Vet World Championship medallist Richard Melvern was also 2nd in the 60/64 age group with a 2:18:26.  Shawn Reader 2:34:33 and Nat Whitley 2:38:14 were first timers at the Olympic distance, and Pete Ryan completed his 2nd Olympic in a week and went under 2:30 with a super 2:22:16. Stephen Jones completed his first event for FVS TRI with a 2:19:38
