FVS TRI supporters were very vocal in their support and very visible in their new Club colours. The Club Sunday training ride was planned to coincide with the Bedford event, despite the early 7.00am start from Hitchin Swim pool!

Saturday 26/6/04

DAMBUSTER Triathlon

1500m open water swim/26.6mile bike/9.6k run

3 members of FVS TRI competed in the Rutland water based triathlon. The event was held on Saturday morning with a chilly 1500m swim followed by a 26.6mile undulating bike loop and flat 9.6Km run which crossed Rutland Water Dam 4 times.

Simon Hall was 1st home for FVS TRI in an overall time of 2:16:39 closely followed by Michael Clark

Michael continues his build up to the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon, probably the world’s toughest long distance event in Norway with an excellent 2:18:01

Michael is the stronger swimmer and with similar bike times, it all came down to whether Simon was able to catch Michael on the run. Simon is in superb form at present, currently the lead runner in the Mid Week Road Race League and so he caught Michael in the very last section of the race running 33:59 for the 9.6k.

Penny Wylie was also competing and she completed the event in 2:33:30

Nine members of FVS TRI competed in the popular early morning aquathlon (swim/run) held in St Albans. The race is a pre work event and so competitors were arriving well before 5am!

Kevin Holt was first home for FVS TRI in 6th overall and 1st in his age group (20/25).

Penny Wylie was also 1st in her age group with a strong swim setting her up for a good time.

Fastest FVS TRI swim on the day was Steve Harrison (7:23) who would have finished higher overall but for a running injury. Best run on the day was from new member Pete Sibbett (17:47) with Suzy Fitt (18:26) scoring the fastest female FVS TRI time and 2nd overall in the club!

Sunday June 13 2004

Summers Smashes Course Record!

Hitchin Nomad 10 Mile Club Time Trial

FVS TRI entered 17 riders in the Hitchin Nomads 10 Mile Club Time Trial. This event was promoted as part of Bike Week 2004 and so was ideal for the 13 riders who had not competed in a Time Trial before.

In ideal conditions FVS TRI top cyclist Mickey Summers smashed the course record to record a time of 23:56 for 10 miles. Husband and wife duo Keith and Jackie Perry also both earned PBs with times of 26.59 and 28.10 respectively.
