WELWYN HILLY 50k TIME TRIAL Good  Friday

Paula Leading Lady at Welywn

FVS TRI competed in force at the popular Welwyn Hilly 50k Time Trial. This prestigious event attracted a quality field of nearly 100 riders and was won in an amazing time of 1:11:46 despite the course taking in many of the steepest hills in the local area.

Paula Adams in her first open time trial was the first lady home with a time of 1:37:20, just 2 seconds ahead of the 2nd placed female!

FVS TRI had the biggest turnout of the 8 clubs competing and managed a superb second placed Club behind time trial specialists Verulam CC.

There were personal best performances from 5 FVS TRI riders with Jon Gillham and Jackie Perry showing improvements of over 5 minutes from 2004.  Unfortunate Mick Clark was the only rider to puncture in the race. He managed to fix his racing flat in 6 ½ mins to finish just under a minute slower than last year!

Jackie Wins the Series!

After a super performance in the Good Friday Welwyn TT, Jackie Perry then went on to win the Female Veteran Race and also the prize for leading lady in the 3 race series held monthly since January. Improving all the way through the series, Jackie was joined by Lesley Dutton who won 2nd Veteran Lady with a PB, again despite competing the previous day.

Steve Harrison was leading FVS TRI member with a superb 13th in his first duathlon. Keith Perry and Paul Dutton completed the series with PBs, despite racing the previous day, and also for Jon Gillham who built on his Welwyn PB with another at Milton Keynes. Guy Adams also showed a massive improvement of nearly 7 minutes on his first outing in January.

FVS TRI was the leading Club in the series and had the biggest turnout in all 3 races. Great support was enjoyed by the competitors with leading FVS TRI cyclist Mickey Summers having cycled over to Milton Keynes to continue his mileage build up for the cycle racing season!
