Race Results May 2005

Monday 30th May

Thames Turbo Sprint Triathlon

438m pool swim/21k bike/5k road run

FVS TRI coach Jon Gillham was in top form for his opening triathlon of the season setting a new PB 1:03:08. Jon usually starts the season with an event in the Thames Turbo Series and this provides a useful guide to early season form.

Monday 30th May

Hatfield Broad Oak 10k

10k road race

Mark Simpson ran an impressive 10k PB 36:22 to finish 37th from 1050 finishers. This in an improvement of over 2 minutes in the last year and reflects Marks excellent performance in the London Marathon and the resultant benefits of all that quality training!

SIMON SOARS TO NEW PB IN SAN DIEGO!

FVS TRI coach Simon Hall ran a superb PB of 15:56 in the ATS 5K Lung Run in San Diego USA. The fast figure of eight course ran along the downtown Bay front with views across to nearby Coronado Island.

Former top Fairlands Valley Spartans runner, Simon smashed his previous best and dipped under the mythical 16 minute barrier to achieve the best 5K time by any member of the current or previous Club.

Simon is part of the FVS TRI coaching team, specialising in the run discipline and his excellent work has certainly paid off personally as well as showing through in the super improvement in triathlon and duathlon run times by FVS TRI Club members.

Graham attributes his improving form this year to new coaching regime worked out with FVS TRI Club Coach Keith Perry.

FVS TRI Club Duathlon

3m Run/11m bike/1.5m run

There was great support for the first FVS TRI Club Duathlon of 2005 with new course records in both male and female races. Steve Harrison dominated the men’s race setting the new course record of 53:59, winning by nearly 4 minutes to 2nd placed Kevin Holt

The event based around Ashwell is always popular and keenly competed.  With only a minute separating the first 3 females, Sam Tophill set the new female course record of 53:59 and Paula Adams, competing in her first ever multi sports event, just pipped duathlon veteran Jackie Perry by 10 seconds.
