Sunday September 11th

Half Ironman UK

1900m lake swim/90k bike/21.1k run

4 members of FVS TRI raced at Longleat in the UK qualifier for the inaugural Half Ironman World Championships – called 70.3 reflecting the total number of miles completed over the half distance event.

Gavin May was a superb 4th in the 35-39 age category and qualified for the World Championships to be held in Orlando Florida in 2006.

Experienced Ironman Gavin described the course as “savage” with a seriously hilly bike and run course which reduced many competitors to walking pace! The difficulty of the course was reflected in the times which were typically 30 minutes longer than would be expected for the half Ironman distance.

Graham has shown substantial improvement during the 2005 season since joining FVS TRI and attributes this to the excellent training and coaching setup at the Club.
